Pocket Guide: Dining, Drinking, and Sightseeing in Barcelona

Barcelona has been one of my favorite cities since my first visit back in 2011. It is the ideal vacation for friends, students traveling abroad, family, and significant others. There are constantly new restaurants, bars, attractions, and shops to visit in addition to those that have been around for years that never get old. Classic must-dos include: hiking up Park Güell, shopping on Las Ramblas, and dining on the beach at CDLC.

Restaurants

  • Arcano: Indulge in a truly authentic dining experience inside a 17th century stable.

  • Boca Grande: Upscale tapas style spot with a can’t miss mirrored bathroom.

  • CDLC: Enjoy sushi and Asian fusion cuisine at this beachside restaurant. Turns into a club at night.

  • Firebug: Delish brunch and lunch spot two minutes from the Arc de Triomf.

  • Restaurante Gala: Foodie paradise with a diverse menu, funky art, and five themed areas.

Bars

  • Sips: If there is only one cocktail bar you visit, make it here.

  • Paradiso: Consistently tops the list of The World’s 50 Best Bars. Accessed through a pastrami shop fridge.

  • The Roof at The EDITION Hotel: Epic views and pricey cocktails.

  • Dux Gin & Cocktail Bar: Dimly lit and intimate, this spot is loved by locals.

  • Ocaña: Vibrant space with extravagant decor featuring a cafe, cocktails, and live performances.
